The WEEE Directive requires the Government to encourage the eco-design of electrical and electronic equipment in order to make it easier to reuse, recycle and recover WEEE, its components and materials.
It is also required to prevent the use of design techniques or manufacturing processes that prevent the reuse or recycling of WEEE, unless there are over-riding environmental or safety advantages.
Envirowise have produced publications that explain the issues involved; why companies need to act now and what they can do.
